I picked up this book from Amazon a little while back - the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer:

It's a fun read and I really enjoyed it, so I thought I'd recommend it to all of you!
If you haven't seen it before, it's a tongue-in-cheek look at the 40k universe from a lowly guardsman's perspective. It runs through basic training for the Imperial Guard as well as tips for defeating their enemies - such pearlers as "There is one rule to employ when fighting the tyranid: shoot the big ones."
Anyway, it's good for a light read, and has some useful background info in it too. I'd recommend it for any Imperial Guard player!

I got this a while ago when it was first published and yeah it's a pretty fun read. Althought all these penalties at the beginning (which usually ended up in one being shot) really stressed me out!
It sure is a hard time staying alive as a Guardsman - although I'm not sure if the biggest threat is the enemy or your Commissar!
I have it and the Munititorium Manual and the "primer" is by far the better of the two. My initial reason was the Dark Heresy RPG where I had a guardsman as a PC and he had one as part of his equipment.
I'm glad you told me that Spyrle - I was thinking about getting the Munitorium manual as well! Perhaps I won't bother now...
I'd imagine the Primer would be of great use when roleplaying!
If ever we wondered what the BPI did when they ran out of toilet paper in the 41st Millenium....
