I use turpentine to fix pigments in place and it has really worked fore me. And it keeps them light enough so you can pretty much see the paint job underneath.
I usually custom set the white balance since I can't trust my cameras auto settings.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11142379276012984189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7007677395039236518.post-58538002174766361282010-08-10T09:04:48.518+09:302010-08-10T09:04:48.518+09:30Cheers Antipope! Unfortunately these photos aren't white-balanced properly, so they have a slight blue tinge to them.

I am actually using pigments on these guys for the mud, but it's hard to tell in these photos. You're right though, I picked them because of the transparency they have. I fix them using a matte varnish, and that ends up making it hard to get a thin coat of the stuff!Frag_Dadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00555921030999145266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7007677395039236518.post-88102546953659762802010-08-10T06:46:55.790+09:302010-08-10T06:46:55.790+09:30OK, I see what you mean. If you use pigments for this job whatsoever you'll get better results since they are a bit transparent.
All in all you've done a very good paintjob!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11142379276012984189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7007677395039236518.post-26698245294569066952010-05-18T08:42:32.969+09:302010-05-18T08:42:32.969+09:30@Courtney - these were both group shots. However, to get it looking like this I have my camera on 'macro' mode, but don't have the troops right up close to the camera. If they're a bit further away, the camera will focus on some of the troops but the rest will still be approximately in focus and it looks alright. If you had the front-most troops very close to the camera, the focus on the others would be quite bad. I hope that helps!Frag_Dadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00555921030999145266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7007677395039236518.post-75564358057825150392010-05-18T05:51:51.960+09:302010-05-18T05:51:51.960+09:30Just a quick question, do you take a photo of each...Just a quick question, do you take a photo of each mini to make sure they're all in focus then photoshop the lot together to get the group?

- Courtney @ Cadian 127thCadian 127thhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15177128943113925510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7007677395039236518.post-18873251844586985182010-05-13T12:56:54.984+09:302010-05-13T12:56:54.984+09:30Thanks for the comments all!
